6 Shocking Habits that can Compromise Your kid’s Vision

Poor vision is the reason for many factors such as age, genetics, or lifestyle. As an adult, we can understand that our lifestyle tends to affect our vision but nowadays children too face the issues with vision. Nowadays we can see most children use glasses or lenses due to their poor vision issues. As a parent, you always get worried about your children and their vision since they spend a good amount of time In front of tv and mobile screens. We can see the rising cases of Myopia in children.  Here we are going to talk about a few of the reasons that can contribute to poor vision. 

1. Rubbing Eyes frequently 

One of the most common habits that most children have is to rub their eyes frequently. It could be due to the infection or simply tiredness. Rubbing eyes excessively can cause poor vision. No matter how tempted they get make sure to ask them to avoid it as much as possible. Rubbing the eyes frequently can result in the breakage of blood vessels under their eyelids. If there is any irritation that occurs in their eyes the make sure to use the cold compress to soothe it and get relief from it. 

2. Using an excessive smartphone 

Another most common reason for which most children find vision issues is the excessive use of smartphones. Gone are the days when children used to spend most of their free time reading and doing other outdoor activities. Nowadays due to smartphones, most children prefer to be at home to play games on smartphones. Spending too much time on a smartphone can cause dizziness, dry eyes, blurry vision, nausea, etc. Make sure your child gets enough break after every 20 minutes of spending on phones. You can also increase the font size of the phone if your child finds it difficult to read. 

3. Not consuming a balanced diet 

Here comes the third reason due to which most of the children face the vision issue. A good diet plays a vital role in improving overall health including eyesight. Most of the children tend to George on fast food and avoid eating fresh vegetables or fruits. We all know that carrots are good for the eyes. Not including these nutrient-rich ingredients in the diet can also result in poor vision. Hence make sure to include the food products that contain omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, dark green leafy vegetables, seafood, etc. 

4. Not wearing the sunglasses 

If your child is spending most of the time outside under the sun and not wearing sunglasses then it can also result in poor vision. Not wearing sunglasses can expose your children’s eyes to harsh UV rays and can cause vision problems. Continuous exposure to these harmful rays can also result in macular degeneration and even cancer. Make sure your child wears sunglasses that can block the UV rays even on overcast days. 

5. Not drinking water

Water is the simple solution to most of the problems including the vision. Our eyes produce a lot of tears in a whole day. Hence it is important to keep it lubricated. Dehydration of eyes can lead to dry, puffy, and red eyes. Hence it is important to let your child drink an ample amount of water throughout the day and keep it hydrated. 

6. Not getting enough sleep 

Most of the children nowadays spend most of their time on smartphones and computers. This results in a poor sleeping pattern and they end up getting poor sleep. Hence as a result they experience red or bloodshot eyes. Most of the time they get dark circles as well along with blurred vision. It is important to let your child take sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours at night to keep their eyes healthy. Ask them to avoid the screen during sleep time as much as possible to get a good sleep.
