Homeland Season 9 Ending Explained

Although the television segment of Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) journey has ended, Showtime’s long-running espionage drama Homeland has left viewers guessing what will happen next.

Homeland premiered in 2011, a long time ago compared to today’s CIA-related political drama. Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon adapted the premium series from an Israeli show called Hatufim, which means “kidnapped.” Carrie, played by Danes in Showtime’s adaption, is a dedicated and amoral CIA agent with bipolar disorder and manic schizophrenia.

Homeland Season 9 is comparable to the first season in many ways. Carrie was assigned to investigate Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a US Army veteran captive in Afghanistan for ten years in the first season of Homeland. A military squad is said to have rescued Brody along the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Brody’s shifting loyalties are a major cause of contention in Homeland until his execution in Iran in season 3. In Homeland Season 9, Carrie transforms into Brody.
