Why Do People Vape?

There are 41 million e-cigarette users worldwide as of 2018. That number is expected to reach 55 million in 2021, according to the World Health Organization. Vaping is on the rise, and the industry has changed in the past few years. While nicotine vapes are still extremely popular, cannabis vapes have gained more traction as more states have legalized the use of marijuana or CBD. But why do people vape? How is vaping different from smoking, and what are the benefits? Let’s explore all of that and more down below.

Why Do People Vape?

Why vape? Well, there are many different reasons that people may prefer vaping over smoking. It depends on what you’re vaping, whether it’s nicotine or cannabis, oil or dry herb, and your history with the substances.

Vaping Cannabis

The effects of vaping cannabis are much different than vaping nicotine, and so are the reasons. If you are a cannabis user in general, you may vape cannabis either for recreation or for medication.

Vapes that contain THC will give you a psychoactive effect, which means a THC vape will get you high. People that use these vapes may just do it to feels these effects.

However, if it also includes CBD, it could also be used to help with anxiety, stress, and chronic pain.

There are also cannabis vapes that do not contain any THC, only CBD or other non-psychoactive cannabinoids. These vapes, such as a full-spectrum CBD vape, are also often used to help treat pain, inflammation, and other ailments.

Vaping Nicotine

Those who vape nicotine have many different reasons, though the reasons differ from cannabis vape users. As nicotine is an addictive substance, people may vape because of their addiction. In addition, vapes are readily available, so you don’t have to go outside to smoke a cigarette constantly.

Vapes are often also used to promote a social image, which is more common for younger people. If it seems as though everyone has a nicotine vape, a young adult is more likely to get on board with it despite any risks of addiction involved.

Benefits of Vaping

There are tons of benefits of vaping versus smoking. First, vaping is much more discreet than smoking, as virtually no smoke or smell occurs.

This allows you to vape indoors and pretty much anywhere that allows it. If you’re vaping cannabis in a place that it’s less accepted, you don’t have to worry about anyone smelling what you’re vaping.

If you’re at a bar, you don’t have to continuously go outside to smoke. Instead, you have your vape right next to you the entire time.

It is also a great device because it won’t bother anyone. Some people are allergic to smoke, while others are just bothered by it. If you have your vape, you can avoid any issues with anyone else while still getting to do what you want.

There are simple and small ones that pretty much do the work for you, and there are larger and more complex ones that you can completely customize.

Along with this, vaping can be relatively affordable depending on what kind of vape you want. If you smoke cigarettes, switching to vaping is a great way to ween yourself off and more easily quit. You can control your dose of nicotine and gradually decrease it while still fulfilling your desire to smoke.

It’s a safe and smart alternative methods to quit smoking, but you have to be responsible and not also get addicted to the vape, as e-cigarettes are known to be just as addictive as real ones.

Risks of Vaping

Of course, the most significant risk of vaping nicotine is being at a high risk of getting addicted. This is increased if you’ve never smoked cigarettes but have vaped nicotine.

While vaping nicotine is less harmful than smoking cigarettes, it still isn’t safe and should be regarded as extremely risky because of how highly addictive it is.

Along with this, there isn’t enough research done that can prove that vaping is safe for your heart and lungs. Therefore, regardless of what you vape, you are at risk for your heart and lung health.

If you’re vaping the oil, your concentrate could be mixed with harmful chemicals or heavy metals. You could inhale small particles that could get into your lungs, which could be extremely dangerous.

It’s essential to be cautious when vaping anything, especially when you don’t know all of the chemicals that make up your concentrate or you’re vaping something addictive.
